The BSCR offers diverse funding opportunities to its members:

Organise a cardiovascular seminar in my institution

The BSCR will consider applications from any institution for funding to support a cardiovascular seminar.

Members of the BSCR who wish to organise a meeting, symposium or workshop are encouraged to approach the officers of the Society (the Secretary in the first instance).

Attend a BSCR meeting

Travel bursaries with a maximum value of £200 are available for PhD and DPhil students wishing to attend BSCR meetings.may be awarded, depending on the availability of funds, as a contribution towards the cost of attending BSCR meetings. Awards are made at the discretion of the BSCR Treasurer, whose decision will be final. The aim of the scheme is to encourage PhD and DPhil students to attend and contribute to the meeting.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be registered for a PhD or DPhil in an institution in the United Kingdom.
  • The applicant must be a member of the British Society for Cardiovascular Research at the time of application.
  • The applicant must be the presenting author of an abstract accepted for communication at the meeting.
  • The applicant must state the mode of travel (e.g. rail, car, etc.) and claims must be based on the most economical mode and class of travel up to a maximum of £150.
  • Hotel accommodation must be no more than 3 star or equivalent.
  • The cost of meals may not be included in the claim.
  • Awards are made at the discretion of the BSCR Treasurer, whose decision will be final.

Attend other relevant cardiovascular meetings

The Bulletin editors look forward to publishing travel reports written by BSCR members. These can be on any conference, course or laboratory visit of interest to other members and we encourage you to include your best photographs.

A limited number of bursaries are available towards the cost of your visit, which will be provided upon receipt of the report. For a UK meeting, we can pay £100 and, for international meetings, we pay £200 (within Europe) or £300 (rest of the world).
